Filming - Location shots.

When filming for our video, we have been to many different locations to get the best possible shots that we can. The place that we filmed most was a forest, that had been covered in snow, and had beautiful landscapes such as, frozen lakes, snow covered trees and bushes.

The only problem with filming in these locations is that the snow does not last and we only had around a day of full snow meaning we had to get all of the filming and shots we needed before the snow melted and it got dark.

Digipak planning- Making our Digipak.

When making our Digipak, there are many important factors that have to be taken into consideration, such as:

  • The font
  • The image (that has to be attractive and relevant to the video)
  • Whether the Digipak as a whole reflects the artist, video and is suited to the target audience that we would be trying to reach
  • The theme of the Digipak, that has to suit the video, song, and artist.

And on our digipak we have to include:
  • Six panels
  • A spine
  • A barcode
  • The track list
  • The disc impression
We also had a few more ideas that we would also be able to include:
  • Song lyrics
  • Information on the artist.
  • Images of the artist.

As we are planning our Digipak, and have been practising with photoshop, we have decided to start looking for and analysing fonts that we believe would be suitable to use.

Here are some images of dafont.com, a website that we will be using to find our font:

When looking through dafont.com we found that some fonts definitely were not suitable for Gabrielle Aplin, the song or the style of video and digipak that we want to create. These are fonts such as:

As this is a 'medieval' style font, it would not be suitable to use for a love themed digipak and video.

This is another font that also isn't suitable for our Digipak. Not only is the theme of the text not suitable, but it also isn't clear enough to use.

Texts that we believe would be suitable are texts such as :

These texts are 'handwritten' style texts that are girlier and softer and would look more appropriate   on a love themed digipak and would suit the video more.

Editing- Editing our video.

Now that we have finally achieved shots that we are happy to use, we have started to edit them to make the start of the video.

At the moment, I am finding it very difficult to match together the lyrics of the song with the lip synching, as the person who performed in the video for us, was slightly slow on the singing. She also did not know the words perfectly, so at points got the words wrong and stopped singing. This makes it very difficult in the continuity of the editing, as at the points that she stops, we have to either change the shot, or re do the shot.

We are also trying to vary the shots as well as we can, as we do not want to make a boring video, that consists of only a few shots lip synching.

Here are some pictures of the work we have done so far:

Digipak planning- Using photoshop to create our Digipak.

As i've never used photoshop before, but have to use it to create my digipak, i decided to test it out and practice skills that i may need when designing our cover. I have practised techniques such as adjusting the quality of the image, using the clone stamp tool, the magic wand tool, using filter gallery and creating different layers.

Here are a few simple shots of the work i was doing...

Filming- Filming over Christmas.

As it was Christmas time, we haven't done much filming, yet we have done some filming of some of the clips we wanted to use.
Instead of doing the whole 'suicide scene',  we decided to make it easier for ourselves and just take lots of clips of a happy couple together, and try to make them as effective as possible.

We still have lots of work and improvements to make as we still need to shoot all of our lip synching shots, and get more interesting shots of the couple together.

We didn't get to do a lot of our filming due to the fact that the weather was so cold, meaning the 'actors' weren't willing to stay outside for very long, and the fact that it gets dark so early on in the day.
